MQ® - MENTALITY TEST

Scientific background

The MQ® - Mentality Test

is the only European-developed test that examines the style and the structure of the participant's mentality. Thus it predicts the potential success and performance as well as how the participant can and should develop.

Thanks to the scientific research of the past 40 years we now know that our behaviour and potential performance are not only determined by important factors such as personality and the system of values but also by emotional attitude that is found at the bottom of the person's "iceberg". It was recognised that our nervous system interprets everything we perceive automatically and in a flash and that our emotional reactions depend on this interpretation. While having positive thoughts we are more confident, initiating and open and this is prerequisite to balanced performance, creativity, proactivity and the inclination to learn. While negatively tuned, we are tense, cautious and rather closed, the focus of our attention shifts from the actual task to the emotional processes happening inside, which leads to a decrease in performance and energy.

The boundaries of test analysis

Like every test, MQ® only provides additional information about the person, so it should be checked against data acquired from other sources such as CVs, interviews, Assessment Centres and earlier experience concerning the job performance of the person. As we have observed, in case of successful managers high MQ goes together with high general and emotional intelligence. A high MQ is necessary but not sufficient for outstanding managerial performance.

Examined criteria

In the test we analyse the three factors of automatic thinking: E-G-O and their operation in favourable and unfavourable circumstances and in workplace and private situations. Therefore we evaluate the result according to eight criteria: the total score, the E-G-O factors one by one, workplace and privacy, and the interpretation style of positive and negative situations. The effect of a factor on another one can result in fine variations in the individual's performance if a strong factor can compensate the weakness of another one or vice versa. In terms of high performance at work four out of the eight factors have proved to be critical, we describe them in detail in "Managerial Report".

"Your life is what your thoughts make it."

Marcus Aurelius

"There are no unsuccessful people in the world; there are only men and women who do not know they would be capable of being successful."

E. Wheeler

"Once you understand that failure is just a detour, you are already on the way to success."

 W. G. Milnes

Possible areas of application

»  selection of new employees
»  preparation of development and career plans for existing employees

Relying on the information of "Managerial Report", you - as the leader of the participant - can understand his mentality and way of thinking and the influence these have on his behaviour and performance. The test shows the participant's individual E-G-O pattern which assists the manager in planning tailor-made coaching.
The test presumes the jobs in which the participant can perform best in terms of mentality.

The MQ® - Mentality Test predicts the following:

»  performance
»  ability to develop
»  level of
energy
»  creativity
»  motivation
»  perseverance
»  initiation
»  flexibility
»  ability to believe
»  level of hope
»  health conditions
